The pledge for certified-safe AI for young people

AI is now reaching young people directly, in the apps they learn in, play in, and turn to in hard moments. We believe any AI that speaks with a child should be able to prove, to an independent standard, that it will not manipulate, exploit, or harm them. This pledge is a public commitment to require that floor wherever we can.

What signing commits you to

01

We will require certified-safe AI

For youth-facing AI products we build, commission, deploy, or operate, meaning AI that carries a current certification to the independently governed safety standard.

02

We support an independent standard

We back a certification owned and administered by a body independent of any single vendor, with the power to audit and to revoke, including against the vendor's own products.

03

We will point others to it

When we have a voice in how AI reaches young people, through partners, suppliers, funders, or members, we will encourage them to require the same floor.

Who can sign

Any organization that builds, commissions, deploys, governs, funds, or distributes AI that reaches young people can sign. You do not need to be a technology company. Youth organizations, coalitions, builders, funders, insurers, platforms, and public bodies are all welcome. The first organizations to sign are recognized as founding signatories.

Sign the pledge

Signing is a good-faith statement of intent. It is not a purchase, a license, an investment, or a binding contract, and you may withdraw on written notice. Installing a certified safety layer in a product is a separate step under a separate agreement.
